Christmas Dinner

The 15th Annual Christmas Dinner at Queens in Jackson, Michigan

Hundreds attend the Christmas celebration at the church in hopes to spend the evening with families & friends. Others came because they were alone and wanted to develop new friendships on this blessed holiday.

This is my fourth year volunteering as coordinator for our volunteers. There were over 336 persons accounted for that arrived for warm meal & take-out dinner. I rallied up my volunteers and went to work preparing this meal in quick times.

Spreading Christmas Spirit

Jackson Volunteers

Estelle & John Clary were supervisors of the event. As the coordinator, I had the responsibility to make the dinner run smoothly. I directed the volunteers to help where a hand was necessary..

Volunteers lined up ready to serve the people of Jackson. Each volunteer had assigned duties at different stations. Our volunteers greeted the families, prepared the meals, served dinners and made each person feel welcome on this blessed celebration.

Food was donated by the community. Panera Bread donated boxes of bread & pastries.  Anything that was leftover was placed into take-out containers for families to enjoy meal at home, too.

More than 50 workers from Consumers Energy had the first meal because these individuals have been working 24/7 to restore power to homes. Mid-Michigan is still without power since our winter storm last week. These workers dropped into the church to enjoy a hot meal.

Such a great feeling to serve the community and influence other people to feel good this season. Times are hard for everyone & what a great way to share smiles & give blessings.

I am looking forward to helping in the future.
