Traveling with a disability
When I landed at the airport, I hit the ground running in NYC. Upon arrival into LaGuardia Airport; I hopped the cab line (by request from NYC Cab) and started my adventure in Manhattan. As a disabled person, I can’t get around very long without having to take rests. I started traveling with my scooter to eliminate the extra stress on my arms from walking. I am not embarrassed by the scooter because it’s really nice to get around quicker while getting things done. NYC cab company was so nice to accommodate a large vehicle to smoothly fit my scooter. These two men worked together to get all of my items into the taxi and we were on way!
First Stop in New York
Clearly, my first stop in New York – was checking into my hotel. The staff at the James New York in SoHo was so accommodating. They provided a map of subway / train stops and printed off an accessibility list of entrance points with elevators.
@JamesHotels your team hooked me up with a map and accessible subway stops! Very nice โ๏ธ #NYC pic.twitter.com/YFfAljcarL

— playing catch up —
My social media business never stops since it’s an online communication that anyone can use at any time. I like to say that the OPEN sign is always on.. because technically it is.
While I was on the airplane – maneuvering a long cab ride and checking in – I lost time to schedule tweets & check emails. Instead of going straight out to the city, I worked in the lounge area to catch up with my team and update clients.
I’m glad that I waited a few hours in the lobby because more rooms were available.. I was bumped from floor 4 to floor 9! Wow, thank you James Hotel New York staff.
I’m addicted to my room… I could live / sleep / work / play in this hotel room. It is all windows with art on the walls and … ready, heated bathroom floor? How cool is that!?
And there’s more — the art panel slides up with the press of a button. Watch now:
Check out my views from the rooftop — looking forward to coming back to this view in the evening for a delicious cocktail at the JIMMY!
