All Things Detroit took place on Sunday, November 1st in Eastern Market, Detroit MI. Many local and some non local – families crowded into a busy shed where small businesses showcased their products and services. I recognized many of the faces as I strolled past the tables displaying different items.
There was something for everyone.. Custom made Detroit pieces, salsa, candles, Christmas ideas and much more.
In the back of the Shed, a pack of food trucks circled the parking lot. It was a well planned event that had a little bit of everything.
When we walked into “All Things Detroit” we were drawn the street dancers who were busting a move in the middle of the event. I remember this group from Farmington Hills, where I use to live earlier this year. They would meet every week under the pavilion in downtown Farmington to practice a new routine. I hope they find this blog post to capture the moment… it was a hit!
There were many different businesses to connect with – from clothing, eating healthy and artistic masterpieces.. I wish I had more time in the day to meet with everyone – there was so much that I wanted to cover. I captured a few actions shots of people shopping and learning about the products. It is important to support local businesses, especially in Detroit. We need to stick together to remain successful. This is the revitalization period of Detroit.. I’m honored, thrilled, scared and ready to be a part of it!
All Things Detroit really made me miss my art gallery in the warehouse, Russell Industrial Center. I had my art gallery for almost a year when I had to close it due to unforeseen security issues.. not enough lighting etc.
The moments that made me miss my gallery the most was the face to face interaction that people were making while walking around the shed. People were very much into what each other was doing, learning about their passions and getting to know one and another.
Our community is so close.. we begin to see each other all the time. That is the best way to get yourself out there — by being out there. I will most definitely be apart of All Things Detroit in April 2016. I had my birthday this past weekend in Grand Rapids – you can read about my adventures to a sold out Bassnectar concert.
