Family Edition – acrylic painting “Don’t Force It” — working dead-end jobs to climb the corporate ladder… hardly making any money, student debts, constantly fixing my 2000 Camry (which had 500,000 miles on it). I was barely old enough to understand why the world was falling below me… This one of the lowest points for my life… Spending money on plane tickets — trying to find what makes my mind tick… and every time I made some cash money, some disaster happened in my life that forced me to constantly be broke to understand the value of money… “Don’t Force It” the FIRST hardest summer of my life… living in Los Angeles on someone’s couch – taking two buses to Mazda — to work in their advertising department with a low wage… I did it… and I didn’t force it. I ate rice and fruit — and learned the value of a dollar. Follow the main @missydi and subscribe to my art page by clicking the link in bio. #missydiartist

Encaustic Wax is sooooo much more fun to paint with… but the process is absolutely complicating… heat up beeswax at 200F until its liquid… Add the oil paint… mix, allow to leave overnight in cold weather but not too cold where the wax cake will freeze… heat up again to make milky… Paint with the liquid and use a heat torch to add effects with a palette knife. This is called “drip.drip.drop.done.” because I literally added layers on layers until I was like… “Okay, done.” Underneath the purple, I used newspaper to add the layer effect that brings the wax to life… Holla! Family edition “Water Glass” — you know the saying “when your glass is half-empty?” … well, I like to say “my glass is half-full” which means that I may not be there today… but I am closer than I was yesterday. University was a hustle… going to school full-time for Engineering… Plus art school with an hour commute to the city – twice a week… And three part time jobs in the graphic design and printing program… It felt like my glass was always half-full… Because I gave it all, but I was still not where I wanted to be.. My motivation was to continue finding opportunities so that my glass would get closer to a full cup. Follow the main @missydi and subscribe to my art page by clicking the link in bio. #missydiartist

Family edition – Acrylic painting — “Pin Point” this was painted for an ex back in 2014 — “Pin Point” when we thought we had to plan our lives to every detail because everyone around us was forcing it… When you “pin point” something – you make an exact measurement of your expectations… how does one expect that of me if I can’t control my schedule for next week?… So my crazy ass; cough* cough* folded under pressure and became a gypsy… Now I jet set around the world in a suitcase. Nothing lasts forever, people… hold the people closest to your heart that you care about the most. Follow the main @missydi and subscribe to my art page by clicking the link in bio. #missydiartist
