Bali Temples

Today was the first official day where I was able to see the island of Bali. I found an organization online where a group of small professionals met in exotic destinations. This group of working professionals had access to a 24/7 coworking space with flexibility to enjoy the culture of a new place.

I found this group of individuals online and thought “hey- I take chances all the time” Let’s take another chance to explore the world with people who are like-minded and adventurous. I put my best foot forward to take risks by meeting these people online & flying out here. I wanted to take myself out of normal routine because I was aching for change and some time away from home.

Work Hard / Play Hard: Our coworking space is near my hotel – which makes daily tasks easy to keep up with (emails, social media listening, reports, invoicing, blogging). The coworking space, Dojo Bali, provides access to working professionals from around the world — this was my opportunity to grow my brand internationally – let’s do it! Everyone needs some social media!

Just a side note.. as this is my first official post of Bali

Before my adventure to Bali- I found resources online for tourism, alternative medicine and Bali culture. I have a lot of plans to try alternative medicine while I am here. My back is against the wall.. and I don’t have other options anymore. I’m almost 30 years old — the muscle relaxers, monthly injections in my head / neck.. the medicated patches – I’m done, people. You only get one skin to live in.. and I want this one to be healthy.

I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to do it at first.. it was hard to communicate with the group that organized everything. I literally booked my flight three days before taking off. So .. here I am. Three days of travel… I’m in Bali! I love saying that < it rolls off the tongue..

Making NEW Friends: This may be the first day that everyone piled together for traveling the island but we clicked immediately! I can’t wait to share the photos from our experiences!

Let’s Jump Right Into It –

Oh, just in Bali for a few weeks trying some things to my body… meeting some of the greatest people to ever walk in my life.. and understanding prayer at sacred temples. I want to build a better relationship with God – I once had a great relationship which somehow fell apart when I stopped talking to him everyday. I’ll get back on track — this is the perfect opportunity to do so.

Perfect Day for sight-seeing at Ulun Danu Bratan Temple

As I walked into the temple area, I was greeted with street vendors everywhere. They are selling umbrellas, clothes and much more. The street vendors are typically selling the same items so I wouldn’t stop unless you want to bargain a good deal. I ended up getting 3 pairs of clothing for less than $10.00 — so depending on your negotiating skills, you could come out winning.

The roads were hills and steep with rocks. This was the first photo opportunity *

What is the history behind Ulun Danu Beratan Temple?

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is a temple dedicated to the goddess of the lake is Ida Batari Dewi Ulun Danu on the edge of a huge crater. The dominant shrines are Meru’s (pagodas) dedicated to the lake goddess and the gods of Mount Batur and Mount Gunung Agung, the largest volcano in Bali. The temple was built in the 17th century in worship of the main Hindu trinity, Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva, as well as the lake goddess, Dewi Danu. Source: website

I spent most of my time soaking up the views.. the clouds tucked away the mountain.. the water.. the floating island. Everything was so beautiful – yet hard to describe because it didnt feel real.

I found a nice area on a rock to sit and think. I sat in this area for a solid 20 minutes embracing my surroundings. This was the type of peaceful comfort that I was looking for. I’m constantly on the go – 24/7 because I love waking up everyday with a jammed pack agenda of projects and clients that I enjoying working with.. but this was different. This peaceful mindset helped me take work off my mind.. it helped me breath and listen to what my mind was telling me. My body wants to keep going until I’m exhausted but my heart is telling me to soak up life around me.

The rain started to sprinkle but it felt so good because it was humid. We were on the top of a mountain – called the floating island. My ears popped for 30 minutes because the windy roads make it impossible to get to the top in a timely manner. Every moment was engraved in my head… I can remember the smells, sounds and colors.
