Using forearm crutches to move around is a way of life that I have come to know all too well. As a person with a disability, I am constantly dealing with the challenge of balancing my energy and resources while adapting to the limitations that come with my condition.
I’ve grown from full body braces to a wheelchair and now independently on crutches. But as time continue to press on, I became more comfortable to appreciate my freedom. With my crutches, I am able to move around more easily, and I have a greater degree of independence.
One of the biggest challenges that I face is managing my energy levels. Because I am using my arms to move around, I need to be mindful of the amount of energy that I am expending. This means that I need to plan ahead and be strategic about how I use my energy throughout the day. It also means that I need to be more mindful of my physical limitations and take breaks when I need to.
Despite the challenges that come with using crutches, I am grateful for the adaptations that I have had to make in my life. These adaptations have allowed me to continue living my life on my own terms, and have helped me to find new ways to enjoy the things that I love.
One of the most important lessons that I have learned is that it is possible to live a fulfilling life even with a disability. While there are certainly challenges that come with it, there are also many opportunities to grow and learn. I have found that by focusing on the things that I can do rather than the things that I cannot, I am able to live a more positive and fulfilling life.
In conclusion, using forearm crutches to move around has completely changed my life. While there are certainly challenges that come with it, I am grateful for the adaptations that I have had to make and for the opportunities that I have had to learn and grow. Ultimately, I believe that it is possible to live a happy and fulfilling life even with a disability, and I am excited to continue exploring new ways to live my life on my own terms.
